The goal: surprising the team once again
At every quarterly retreat, I like to prepare something special to surprise my colleagues. I've done it before with Clevergy Cards, the Personalized Wally Book, and the 3D blister figurines.
This time I wanted to go further and build a full video game where everyone could see themselves and play together. The game's objective: Save the retreat by completing 5 worlds inspired by Clevergy's real history.
The 5 worlds: company history in levels
Each level revisits a real milestone of our journey:
1. 🏢 The office
2.5D retro platformer
A chronological journey across our offices: first at Google for Startups Campus, then Wayra (Gran Vía), and finally CINK Coworking, where we face the final boss: Datadis and its API changes.

World 1: The office — platforming across our three workspaces
2. 🥊 Retro Fight
Smash Bros arena fighter (up to 4 players)
Our bi-weekly sprint retrospective («the retro») settled by brawling on top of the conference table, throwing sticky notes with real quotes, staplers, and coffee mugs to restore health.

World 2: Retro Fight — fighting right on the meeting board table
3. ✏️ BoliBic Tag
3D ballpoint shooter (Three.js)
Laser tag faithfully recreating our current coworking: Clevergy's desks, the lunchroom microwaves, neighbor María Eugenia knitting scarves at her window, and final boss «Inbox Infinito».

World 3: BoliBic Tag — ballpoint laser tag across the coworking space
4. 🚤 Pantano de San Juan
Jet ski kart racing (up to 20 players)
Inspired by the retreat where we went waterskiing and jet skiing at the reservoir. Features drift mini-turbos and office items like coffee boosts and email torpedoes.

World 4: Pantano de San Juan — water races remembering our retreat
5. 🔋 The integration
Fall Guys obstacle course (4 rounds)
My favorite world. It summarizes in one course everything it takes to integrate a user: creating the CUPS, dodging Datadis errors, connecting solar inverters, and climbing the tower to claim the battery.

World 5: The integration — the full journey to capture the battery
Retreat characters
Each teammate has their own playable character with all their real animations:
Physical QR cards
As with previous retreats, a physical collectible was essential. Each teammate received a custom member card with a QR code that launches the game on mobile with their character ready to play:

Real-time multiplayer
Using WebRTC and Cloudflare, we were able to jump in all at once from our phones during the retreat to compete live in the same match:

Team leaderboard
Scores and completed worlds are stored in real time with Cloudflare D1. And as proven on the board, Manu will always be the most competitive teammate:
